Children love
listening to stories and Audio Books are a great way for them to
use their own imagination while the story is being told.
Children have got so used to watching the television programmes
especially made for them that nothing is left to the
imagination.
Before television
came into our lives children used their imagination to make up
their own games. Children played out with their friends in all
weathers and invented their own games using what they could
find. Boys played football and the girls played with their
skipping ropes. Today children spend most of their time indoors
watching television and the need to make up their own games
isn't necessary. However, although many things have changed for
us all as well as children over the years, adults as well as
children still love hearing a good story.
Children's stories
such as Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Little Red
Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the three bears and the Three Little
Pigs are still favourites with small children even though they
were written many years ago. Audio Books are available with all
these and many more stories that all children will enjoy
listening to. With both parents working these days it can
sometimes be hard to find the time to read to your children. It
is easier to switch on the television to keep them entertained.
Small children are unable to read a story book themselves but
Audio Books can be listened to and the child is able to use
their own imagination. Older children often find it too boring
to sit and read a book but will listen to an Audio Book while
they are doing something else.
The worst time to keep children occupied is when we are
travelling particularly on long journeys. It doesn't take long
before they start up "Are we there yet" or they start crying and
in the case of two or more children they start arguing. This is
where Audio Books can really make a big difference between a
quiet and pleasant journey to a stressful and tensed up journey.
Giving the children an I Pod with stories that have been down
loaded from Audio Books will keep them quiet for hours.
They could also be
given some paper and coloured pencils to draw pictures that come
into their imagination after they have listened to the stories.
Try and down load stories that you know your child has not heard
before. With so many Audio Books to choose from there is
something to suit all age groups. Older children become bored as
do adults when travelling so Audio Books are brilliant for this
purpose. Children have so many other things to keep them amused
at home but long journeys are boring and children become
restless. Giving the children an Audio Book to listen to will
certainly make a difference and hopefully everyone will arrive
at their destination feeling less stressed.
