Playtime books...

...is a family business. The author and narrator of most of our books is Ann Twigg. Ann has three sisters, three children and six grandchildren and has spent most of her life working and playing with youngsters. During the tough post-war years, she was responsible for helping to raise her two younger sisters.

She married in 1964, worked as a Sunday School teacher and, by 1966, was raising two young children. Ann has always had a mischievous sense of humour and a real talent for tuning into to kids at their level. The books on this website are a true testament to her amazing talent for entertaining children.

The rest of the team

Ann's husband, Ernest, is responsible for producing high-quality sound recordings of the stories and taking care of technical questions. Alan, Ann's eldest son, and who lives in Germany is responsible for the website and for the marketing and promoting the books.

The whole operation is based in two countries, the UK and Germany. The German versions of the books are produced by Susanne and Alan Twigg at their home in Germany.

Our Commitment

Our mission is to produce the world's very best audio book stories for young children between 3 and 8 years of age.  We will be writing and recording new stories, creating new German-language versions for our bilingual collection and producing wonderful illustrations to make our CDs the best illustrated in the in the world.

Have you noticed how most contemporary children's books don't have a proper ending? We will continue to make sure that all our stories have a beginning, a middle and an end!
