An interview with Tom O'Bryan, DC, CCN
Dr. O'Bryan discusses how countless people with neurological and behavioral conditions - including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, migraine headaches, and childhood developmental conditions, such as autism and ADHD -- also have sensitivities to wheat.
He says: "Up to 90% of my patients who complain of these kinds of neurological and behavioral problems also have documented elevated antibodies to wheat, indicative of wheat sensitivities. The connection is undeniable. When these people stop eating wheat, their symptoms invariably diminish." In his talk, Dr. O'Bryan, who is joined by nutritionist Lisa Stimmer, tells how to recognize whether your symptoms are wheat-connected, and how to omit wheat from your diet – even though many foods have wheat as their primary ingredient. Ms. Stimmer also shares practical tips on how to shop for and select a variety of wheat-free foods.
Dr. O'Bryan points out that, over the years, both the average American's consumption of wheat and the occurrence of neurological, learning and behavioral problems have been on the rise. "Only recently," he says, "has the evidence shown that there is an undeniable link between the two."  
Tom is a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine (DC), and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN. He is a visiting Instructor at the National University of Life Sciences, and Vice-President of the Illinois Chapter of the International and American Association of Clinical Nutritionists. Named "Chiropractor of the Year" by the Chicago Chiropractic Society, Dr. O'Bryan is a Past President of the organization and a past Director of the Illinois Chiropractic Society.
Liz Lipski, PhD, CCN Is the host of the Access to Health Experts interview series. She holds a doctorate and is board certified in Clinical Nutrition, is the author of Digestive Wellness, Digestive Wellness for Children, and Leaky Gut Syndrome. She’s the Director of Doctoral Studies at Hawthorn Health and Nutrition Institute, and the nutrition editor for Pilates Style Magazine. Dr. Lipski is the founder of several web-based health information sites including Innovative Healing and Access to Health Experts.
